Punta Cana Resort Proposal Permits, Fees and Privacy: What to Check

At many all-inclusive resorts, a marriage proposal may require advance approval plus venue, decoration, photography or outside-vendor fees. Rules vary by property, so the guest should request written terms one or two months before the trip. A private beach or catamaran can provide clearer costs and greater privacy.

Resort rules are not all the same

Restrictions are most common at all-inclusive resorts. Many charge separate fees for the setup, the location, photography and every outside professional who needs access. Some properties also require day passes or advance identification for the team. A proposal that would cost about US$1,000 outside a resort can reach roughly US$1,500 after property charges.

Some all-inclusive hotels work exclusively with in-house photo shops or vendors. They may prohibit an outside photographer or allow one only after an additional fee. This is why the hotel guest—not the external planner—should request written permission. The hotel normally prioritizes communication with its guest.

An important exception

Not every Punta Cana hotel follows the all-inclusive model. Properties within Puntacana Resort, including The Westin Puntacana Resort & Club, operate differently. A location or food charge may apply, but the same decoration, photographer or officiant fees are not automatic. Always confirm the current rule directly with the property.

What to ask before booking

Ask whether outside decoration and photography are allowed, what access documents are needed, whether a venue fee applies, the permitted setup hours and the privacy of the proposed space. Start one or two months ahead because hotel responses can be slow.

Privacy alternatives

A private beach offers low density, no vendors or boats near the setup and a more controlled background. A private catamaran combines the proposal with an excursion. A villa can be very private when the budget supports the rental. Sertuin Events can compare these options with the resort conditions before you commit.
